Hiking Classification:

Switzerland's hiking trails are classified from T1 (easy) to T6 (difficult) by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC).

T1 - Hiking:

T1 trails are marked in yellow. Easy paths, no special equipment needed, perfect for long walks in nature.

T2 - Mountain Hiking:

T2 trails are red and white. Steeper terrain, need hiking shoes and moderate fitness. Ideal for a bit more challenge.

T3 - Demanding Mountain Hiking:

T3 trails are red and white. Requires good hiking shoes, some alpine experience, and basic climbing skills.

T4 - Alpine Hiking:

T4 trails are blue and white. Requires solid trekking boots and familiarity with exposed terrain and basic climbing.

T5 - Demanding Alpine Hiking:

T5 trails are blue and white. Requires mountaineering boots, alpine experience, and knowledge of ice axe and rope handling.

T6 - Difficult Alpine Hiking:

T6 trails are blue and white. For pros only. Requires technical alpine equipment and mature alpine experience.
