Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss Alps with a private hiking tour in the Zermatt region.

This is a whole day outdoor trip (9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m.). The tour starts in Zermatt and takes you up to Klein Matterhorn – a famous peak from where marvelous views of the Matterhorn and other peaks can be admired. On top, you will have a chance to stroll around, learn more about the mountain range, flora, and fauna of the high Alps, as well as enjoy refreshments at the hotel.

Upon your preference, you can hike to Schwarzsee, a famous lake offering a perfect reflection of the Matterhorn’s silhouette. The length and difficulty of the hike will be adapted to your preferences.

Matterhorn Glacier Paradise

After starting your day with a warm welcome from your expert guide in Zermatt and a brief introduction and overview of the day’s activities, you’ll board the cable car. The ride takes approximately 45 minutes, offering breathtaking views of the Zermatt valley and the majestic Matterhorn along the way.

You’ll ascend to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the highest cable car station in Europe at 3,883 meters/12,740 feet.

Upon arrival, take some time to relax and soak in the stunning surroundings. Explore the Glacier Palace, a magical ice world with intricate sculptures and tunnels carved into the glacier. Don’t forget to step out onto the observation deck for 360-degree views of 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers.

If you wish to do so, your guide can guide you down to Schwarzsee, a serene alpine lake located at 2,583 meters/8,474 feet. This trail offers spectacular views of the Matterhorn and the surrounding high alpine environment. It’s a moderate hike, taking about 2-3 hours, depending on your pace and the trail conditions.

Schwarzsee is a great spot for photography, so make sure to take your camera with you.

Your guide will then suggest the best places for lunch, whether you prefer a packed picnic or a meal at a nearby restaurant.

After lunch, you can continue to explore the area, get the best insight and listen to fascinating stories about the history of alpinism and mountaineering in the region from your knowledgeable guide.

Depending on your preferences and weather conditions, you can prolong the hike to other scenic spots. Your guide will tailor the hike to match your interests and fitness level.

Conclude your adventure by taking the cable car back to Zermatt, or if you prefer, you can hike down part of the way and catch the cable car from a lower station.

Back in Zermatt, your guide will provide recommendations for further exploration or relaxation in the town.
