Plan Of The Day

Pick-up :

Your guide will pick you up at the hotel at 8:30 a.m. If you’re not staying in St. Moritz, the guide will meet you at the St. Moritz Train Station.

Trip overview :

After a meet & greet, you will take a short bus ride from St. Moritz to Punt Muragl. There, you will hop on the 2.2.km/1,3 mile long funicular from Punt Muragl (1742 m/ 5715 ft) in the valley, up a curved track to Muottas Muragl (2456m/8057 ft). This mountain railway was the first to be built in the Canton of Graubünden and was opened on the 9th of August 1907, after just over two years of construction.

Muottas Muragl is one of the most renowned viewpoints in the canton of Graubünden. The view from the restaurant and the terrace at the top is unforgettable! From Muottas Muragl, we will walk along the gentle slopes of Val Muragl (with views of the rock glacier) into the Pontresina Valley. Each new curve in the pathway provides an even better view than the last!

After about 1,5 hours, we will come to the Unterer Schafberg for a short break at the mountain café to enjoy a refreshment and savor the unbelievable outlook over the neighboring valleys (this small café is also famous for its rhubarb pie).

From the Unterer Schafberg, we continue for another 45–55 mins on to Alp Languard, enjoying now the views of Piz Bernina (4049 m/ 6000 ft) and the famous Biancograt, Piz Palu (3905 m/ 5800 ft) and the Bernina Group before we stop for lunch at Alp Languard.

After lunch, we have two options:
(1) Hike back to St. Mortiz through the Stazerwald. This takes about 2 hours.
(2) We can walk back along the road to Punt Muragl, which is at the bottom of the funicular. This route takes about 1 hour.

Return :

After the hike, we will take a short bus back to St. Moritz.

You should be back at your hotel by 4:30 p.m.
