Itinerary

You’ll meet your guides and the rest of the hiking group at the Aigle train station at 2:00 p.m. You can get there with regular trains. In Aigle, your guides will pick you up by car, and you’ll drive together to Solalex, where you’ll start the hike. You’ll trek through the alpine meadows of Pas De Cheville, taking in the beautiful views of the Matterhorn and the Valaisan Alps along the way. You’ll arrive at the Refuge du Lac de Deborence, at a height of 1480 m (4860 ft), where you’ll spend the night.

Dinner at the refuge.

Distance 7 km, Ascend 600 m (2000 ft), Descend 600m, Time 3.5 hours.

Dinner

After a traditional Swiss breakfast at the refuge, and perhaps a swim in a cold alpine lake, your second day of hike begins.

You’ll traverse the south side of the Grand Muveran, stopping along the way for a well-deserved pancake at lunchtime. In the afternoon, you’ll follow the river up to the pastures of Pro Flouri. In the late afternoon you’ll reach the remote Cabane Rambert where you;;ll stay for the night.

Dinner at the Cabane.

Distance 15km, Ascend 1000 m, Descend 600m, Time 6.5 hours.

Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast, you’ll begin the third day of the hike. The day starts with a hike past the waterfalls of Passing Le Pessot to Ovronnaz (known for fantastic local cakes!). After stopping for a break, you’ll continue to trek past beautiful mountains, including Tita Seri (2850 m/9350 ft), Dent de Morcles (2970 m/9750 ft) and Grand Chavalard (2898 m/9500 ft). Throughout the day, we pass bearded vultures and golden eagle nests. There will also be an option for another mountain lake swim. You will reach Cabane Demecre in the late afternoon.

In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the hut wardens’ specialty spaghetti with the rest of the team.

Distance 13km, Ascend 800m, Descend 800m, Time 6 hours.

Breakfast, Dinner

Today is your final day of hiking. After breakfast at the cabane, you will trek back towards the north side of the Grand Muveran, where you’ll admire the views of Lake Geneva. It’s an early start as you make your way up to Cabane La Touche for lunch. After lunch, it’s time for a pleasant hike down the mountain to Javerne and the shuttle to Aigle. From here, you can take the train around Lake Geneva to the airport or spend some time relaxing in the valley.
